How
do we get there?
From Melbourne
Travel to Apollo Bay from Melbourne via the M1 to Geelong. Access via
the coastal route is along the B100, (Great Ocean Road - 183kms) via
Torquay and Lorne.
Alternatively, travel via the inland route, heading towards
Winchelsea and Colac. Take the Great Ocean Road to Glen Aire. Inland, you could
also travel to Colac, the take the Colac/Lavers Hill road to Lavers
Hill. Join the Great Ocean Road to Glen Aire.
From the West
Travelling from Adelaide or Warrnambool, approach along the B100 (Great
Ocean Road) via Port Campbell and Lavers Hill and continue on to Glen
Aire.
Public Transport
Bus: Melbourne - Geelong.
A daily bus service between Geelong, Lorne and Apollo Bay connects with
Melbourne train services. For V/Line Country Train Information call 13
6196 or visit their

Plane:
The closest international airport is Melbourne Airport.
The nearest domestic airport is Avalon (22km or approx 25 minutes
drive to Geelong). A
shuttle
bus is available from the airport to Geelong Bus/Train station
where you can board a connecting V line bus to Apollo Bay.
Train:
Catch a train to Colac station then catch a taxi to Glen Aire. For V/Line Country Train Information call 13

Do
you arrange pick up?
Yes. Let us know your expected arrival time at Apollo Bay and we
will organise transport to Whispering Seas.
Where
can I leave my car?
We are happy for you to leave your car with us. There is plenty of
space available and it is set well back from the road.
Are
meals included in the cost
Yes. All meals are included in the cost or our packages.
What
should I wear?
The warmer months - it can get very hot. Shorts,
long socks and comfortable t-shirt. Good walking shoes. It is
recommended that you carry rain gear. Don't forget your hat!
The cooler months - It can still get warm but it can
also be very windy and cool. Comfortable walking shoes and socks.
Pants and windcheater. Hikers jacket preferably with hood.
When is the best time to arrive? (rephrase. What is the best time of
year to do a walk?)
When
is the best time to walk?
March to June, September to December.
January February – can be hot.
July and August - Wet, windy, cold, but can be invigorating.
Are
the walks difficult?
Most are easy to moderate. There are small sections on
Great Ocean Walk that can be challenging. Please ask for
details about the particular walk that
interests you. |
