Take a break from walking and enjoy an exciting day out which is a
unique Australian Experience.
Suggested day tours
Believed to have erupted 30,000 years ago, Tower Hill’s volcanic
formation is the largest example of its type in Victoria. This
crater is now a National Park that is a haven to wildlife.
Worn Gundidj offers unique Aboriginal experiences such as the
Nature Based Cultural Walk, Hunting and Gathering, Music and
Language.
This is your chance to experience walking in the crater of an
extinct volcano and partaking in Aboriginal Culture. You will
be driven along the Great Ocean Road, passing the Twelve Apostles
and other icons of the Great Ocean Road coastline. On through
Warranabul to Tower Hill. Here awaits an experience of a
lifetime. Enjoy a picnic in the park or go for a walk to
observe the natural habitat.
- Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village
Opened in 1975. Discover what life was like when present-day Warrnambool stood at the centre of a large whaling, sealing and fishing
industry. Scattered throughout this faithful re-creation of late
1800’s port are typical dwellings of the period. A bank, doctor’s
surgery, church, foundry and newspaper office, jail, surgery, slipway,
inn, school and sailmaker’s loft. Walk in and inspect them.
It is just as if the inhabitants have just rushed up the street on an
errand.
Visit the village’s own port and flagstaff Hill’s Great Circle Gallery.
Experience the hazardous and uncomfortable experience for immigrant on
their voyage from Great Britain. See for yourself the Shipwreck of
the Loch Ard.
This tour includes visits to the Wreck Beach, Loch Ard Gorge and the
Maritime Village. Included is entrance to the afternoon show of
Shipwreck (note, this is NOT the Laser Sound show.
See Voyage of a
Lifetime below).
Hear, see and experience for yourself the spine tingling
adventures that come with travelling by sea to a strange and far
away land bordered by one of the world’s most ferocious coastlines.
SHIPWRECKED - a stunning presentation against the exquisite
backdrop of Flagstaff Hill village. One of the nation’s greatest
shows. Over 75 minutes, SHIPWRECKED uses the latest in technological
wizardry to recreate the disaster and its amazing aftermath: the
survival of two 18-year olds, crewmember Tom Pearce and passenger
Eva Carmichael.
This trip includes visits to Wreck Beach, Lochard Gorge, Maritime
Village. Free time in Warrnambool where you can visit the lighthouse,
Lady Bay and Botanical Gardens. Dinner at Pippi’s Restaurant and
entrance to the Laser Sound show SHIPWRECK.
Return to Whispering Seas for a comfortable night’s rest.
Let us take you to sample Australian Cheeses at
Apostle Whey
Cheese then go on for a walk above the treetops at
Otway Fly. Next
we go to
Peveril Vineyard where you can sample magnificent local
wines. Select one for dinner?
We'll visit
Otway
Estate Winery and brewery for a 60 minute tour. See how the wines
and beers are produced. Finish up with an estate platter teamed with
your favourite beer or wine
Later you can visit Melba Gully,
perhaps you would prefer to do this after dusk when the glow worms
are out.
- Paddling with the Platypus
After lunch in the lovely rainforest take the rare opportunity to
see the Platypus in the wild. Relax on a guided canoe tour on the
tranquil and beautiful Lake Elizabeth. Discover Australia’s unique
100 million year old, egg laying mammal. Your guides have a wealth
of experience and a background in Outdoor Education and Biological
Science.
Your tour includes three to four hours of canoeing and a magical
forest walk where sighting glow worms add to unforgettable
experience.
Cape Otway Lightstation is the oldest, surviving lighthouse in
mainland Australia. The light, which has been in continuous
operation since 1848, is perched on towering sea cliffs where Bass
Strait and the Southern Ocean collide. For thousands of immigrants,
after many months at sea, Cape Otway was their first sight of land
after leaving Europe.
